2.711 concrete columns of individual heights designed by the New York architect Peter Eisenman were constructed near by the Brandenburger Tor. This field of steles is accessible day and night by foot from all its four sides. On the south- eastern corner of the terrain there is an underground location of information. Here the personalization and remembrance is made possible by displaying examples of the people's life and family stories. At the same time this location serves as a portal to the vivid and versatile scenery of monuments throughout Germany and Europe.
