The Archenhold Observatory is the oldest and biggest of its kind in Germany. It came into being as created for an arts exhibition in the Treptower Park. Albert Einstein held his first lecture on his theory of relativity here. Next to the Observatory in which one can marvel at the longest lens telescope in the world (21 Meters) there is a planetarium to be visitet.
Permanent exhibitions on display are : “The universe – dimensions of space”, “History of Astronomy”, “ The solar system – our cosmic home” and “ Big telescope”.
