Property in Berlin
It is becoming more and more common for expatriates to invest on Berlin real estate. The city is on the verge of a real estate boom as the seams of its reunification are becoming more solid nearly ten years after it first happened. The time and the circumstance for expatriates buying Berlin real estate are very favorable now.
Why is that so? There are no restrictions for expatriates to own Berlin real estate. Also, the capital gains tax is imposed at normal income tax rates on property sold within a ten-year duration. Also, the standard of living in Berlin is quite high and it has a healthy mix of expatriates already living there.
More Properties
Berlin has many picturesque districts on its outskirts, adorned by natural wonders such as the Grunewald Forest, the Tegeler Forest and Lake Tegeler. But within the city itself, there are many districts to choose from where one can buy property in Berlin. There are in fact 23 districts dividing Berlin.
The fashionable and the affluent are found in the districts of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, with Schoreberg not far behind. In these districts are found turn-of-the-century homes and some of the national landmarks of Berlin. Charlottenburg is the district where the noblemen of Germany once lived. For those who love shopping and nightlife, Tiergarten may be an appealing place to live in. For those who want to live in the middle of the alternative scene, Berlin has Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg.

Posted by Joyce, 08 February, 2008i was advised by my real estate agent that it is best to buy a property in berlin nowadays since business is booming and you get to even enjoy the high perks of living in this upscale place. I am seriously considering owning a place here.
